dirty jewels…..

June 13, 2012 By splendid 10 Comments

Do you wear your ring{s} 24/7? Or do you take them off at times?

I wear my rings day and night, in the garden, to the courts, in the kitchen, tying the lines, they are with me wherever I go. So, it’s not surprising that, over time, my lotions and potions, soaps and slurries can build up in the settings and make it difficult for the gems to reflect light as radiantly as they should. And that is disappointing, because now that the sun is out, I want to see those facets in full sparkle!
So, what’s a girl to do? Here’s a simple home remedy, shared with me by a friend and SM reader, for this pesky~problem build-up.
Soak your jewels in a glass with warm water and dishwashing liquid overnight to soften the build up. Be sure to put the glass somewhere where others won’t be tempted to pour it out or drink it.
Then, in the morning scrub the pieces with a soft toothbrush. They will be pretty, clean and sparkly before you know it!

    Emily-
I know that you can't get all of those on your hand. Just send the spares this way, lol!
Hope your tennis is going well. I start back next week. I am so out of shape.
    Have a great week.

    Thank you Linda!

This just in ~ my friend, who's brother is a jeweler reports that she adds a little ammonia to her soapy water before soaking her rings! Can't wait to try that!

I'm off to France! xo ebh

Emily I am trying this! I never take my rings off either. Day or night, regardless of the activity….so they are serious need of a sparkling cleaning.

This I can do! Thanks for the tip!
