For the love of the greens

When Irish Eyes are smiling..
No matter what your heritage, fresh shades of green are always a pleasing sight this time of year. I love indulging in a tapestry of greenery for St. Patrick’s Day.

White Muscari

I’ve had the pleasure of visiting with a few very talented hostesses lately, so I thought I’d share with you  some of their inspiring floral decorations.
I felt so honored to sit before this eclectic mix of elegant china and silver set on a rustic dark wood table.
I really just loved seeing this little meadow of greens in terracotta and glass vessels during dinner.

A collection of potted ferns, with a bed of moss would be a splendid sight on any St. Patrick’s day table ~ a variety of potted mosses and/ or sedums would also be nice.

Gazing at Ms. M‘s magnificent living room through the chartreuse candle forest was really a delight.

On a larger scale, the talented Ms. L filled a large bowl with oasis after soaking it in water for over three hours (it’s very important to soak oasis well before using it). She then filled the bowl with water and combined:
White Tulips,

fragrant Hyacinths,

bright green Queen Anne’s Lace, and deep green heads of broccoli,
 yes, broccoli.
The combination made a marvelous vision of green shades and textures accented with white blossoms.
She also created this whimsical field of daisies, atop a linen runner, for the dining table.
She cut the daisies to fit and bunched them in these apple green glassybabies.
She also added some individual stems in clear shot glasses — which allowed her to recreate the naturally irregular patterns of an actual daisy field.
Now, Ms. J was really in the spirit of the Irish. Small pots of Shamrocks were scattered on her dining table,
with a large silver tub of them featured in the middle.
She always sets such a lovely table, and I loved the touch of the back side of the sword fern on each napkin.
Truly a girl after my own heart, I was drawn to her tall display of branches on the buffet.
Now, it’s a bit off topic but I just wanted you to see how she uses her pantry sink as a chilly~bin for wine and other beverages at parties.
My friends have made my job quite easy this time around! I hope you found some inspiring ideas.
I would add only one thing (I can’t help myself), if you want to make an easy tall festive arrangement, find some bright green Bells of Ireland and combine them with lilies.
Thank you, Ms. M, Ms. L and Ms. J for your company and your beautiful displays!!
Éirinn go Brách!

Lovely!! I especially like the combination bouquet. And I have the same plates – I mix and match and have this beautiful Limoges as dessert plates.

Lovely tables, and a very good use of a sink! Green glassbabys, white flowers, and Herend china, three of my favorite things!
