Hedge Apples en masse

November 20, 2009 By splendid 1 Comment

Green Glamour
Oh! how we love the day the hearty Hedge Apple (or Osage Orange) tree begins dropping fruit en masse.
Their outlandish color and fresh, astringent fragrance brings a breath of fresh air to the room when the doors are kept closed to block the cold.
We like to pile them high in any vessel, tray or trough.
A spot of chartreuse goes a long way when the skies turn grey.
For more information on these Osage Orange trees look for the post “Trees of Splendor” in the botany section.
