Stopping to Smell the Plumeria
Sea Grape trees can be found all over the British Virgin Islands. They produce small bunches of grapes that are eaten by birds and humans. The trees can grow to be large and sprawling.


In the shade of the sea grape trees meals are shared,



families begin,


minds wander,

and in their midst games are played.

They are a hardwood tree, so when clearing is necessary the wood is used to produce a nice, clean burning charcoal.

A variety of palm trees can be seen alone or in thickets on the coasts and inland.




Mosquito Island is similar to Gilligan’s. It was recently purchased by Richard Branson.

Beautiful almond trees thrive in this climate.

Is there any greater gift than finding the random plumeria, which has dropped from the tree, while walking to dinner on a balmy evening?

Pick it up, take in the scent, tuck it behind your ear and your mood will elevated to the tops of these trees!

Bougainvillea is a common sight crawling and climbing in warmer climates. Sometimes we find one single color of bougainvillea to be too bright, overpowering — almost gaudy! This walkway with the mixed colors offers a great balance of color, they all complement each other nicely.
